You may or may not know that I have a slight cookbook collection. Okay, maybe it’s more like an obsession. As in, at last count I had over 200 different cookbooks. I know, I have a problem.
That said, the most common question people ask me when they find out I have so many is inevitably if I use them all. While I can’t say I’ve tried something from every cookbook, there are many I reach for again and again, and I thought I’d share some of those favorites with you today. This is nowhere near all of them, but some of the ones I reach for most and some new favorites!
Williams-Sonoma Quick Slow Cooking – This is actually a recent add to my collection, and was a gift from Chris. We’ve been trying to incorporate more slow cooker recipes into our mealplans, but the challenge is that lots of them seem to require browning beforehand, lots of prep, etc. This one doesn’t have much of that and is true to it’s title – QUICK. We haven’t tried any of these recipes yet, but a few I have bookmarked are Tangy Braised Brisket, Maple-Braised Pork Chops, and Chicken and White Bean Chili.
Cooking Light Way to Cook – I’ve had this one a while and love it – there’s lots of information in addition to recipes. My absolute favorite Banana-Oatmeal Bread is from this book!
Weight Watchers What to Cook Now – A LOT of my cookbooks are Weight Watchers ones, and this one is so versatile – there are breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert ideas in here. The Proscuitto and Arugula pizza is one of my favorites in here.
Williams-Sonoma Weeknight Fresh and Fast – One of the things I love about this cookbook is that it’s divided into seasons – it’s so helpful when trying to shop seasonal produce. One of my favorites is actually in the fall section – Fall Vegetable risotto with Blue Cheese. Yum.
A Taste of Virginia Tech – Well, if you know me at all, you are not surprised at all by this. My alma mater is known for our phenomenal food, both on and off campus (we serve lobster in dining halls – we’re THAT good). It’s pretty amazing to be able to recreate West End’s Wraps and cookies and Gillie’s Banana Walnut French Toast.
The SkinnyTaste Cookbook – I’ve been reading Gina’s blog, Skinnytaste, for years, and I was so excited when her cookbook came out! Everything I’ve tried from here has been great, just like the ones on her blog. Just trust me.
Weight Watchers Cook It Fast – This one is true to its title. It’s divided up into sections based on how much time you have, then divided into breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. There’s a cobb salad in here that’s on my list to try, and the Fettuccine with Goat Cheese, Arugula, and Tomatoes is delicious.
Cooking Light Dinner’s Ready – I love that this one focuses on dinner, and some of our favorites come from this one – Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Spicy Asian Chicken with Noodles. A great one for dinners (obviously)!
Williams-Sonoma Healthy in a Hurry – This one is exactly what it says, and has a lot of great ways in incorporate healthy ingredients in your meals. One of my favorites in this on is the Blueberry Buckwheat Pancakes!
The Pioneer Woman Cooks – Well, you know this had to be there. I actually have all three of Ree Drummond’s books and the only reason I haven’t pre-ordered her fourth is because it comes out around my birthday and I have a feeling it’s my birthday present from my mom. Ree is the best. Her stuff isn’t really healthy, but it’s good. And sometimes, you just need some amazing Macaroni and Cheese.
Do you have a cookbook obsession too, or is it just me? What are your favorites?
(Note: There are affiliate links in this post, but I would write about these books anyway. I love them!)
